Yeah I used gloss varnish on it. To protect it I often find the base chips the most when you use them in game.

Also thanks for the commends ill do a full how to later on.

That would be a great idea. I think most of us could learn a lot from you.

Hi Hairy,

thanks for the update. The skin is awesome as usual. You must fell the need to make a step-by-step-tutorial, don't you? Wink

The armor is great too.

Ok for the skin I use three pots of paint.

Vallejo model colour Saddle Brown
Vallejo Game Colour Dark Skin

And a GW devlin mud wash ( any brown wash will work )

First I base coat the flesh with saddle brown
Then I wash the whole skin with the brown wash and let it dry.

I start the highlights with a 3-1 mix if saddle brown and dark flesh. Adding more dark flesh with each highlight until I'm on a 1-1 mix.

Rember to keep the highlights brighter at the highest points, the final highlight should only be at the tips of the face. So nose, tops of ears and cheeks.

Once your happy mix a little water into your wash and with a small brush run a line in the deepest parts and at any joints to clothing, so tops of the arms and around the wrist.

That's it really.

Ill have another update in the morning.

I can only join Fenris opinion. The skin and especially the face and the painting of the eye is outstanding.
And i like the armor with the light blue shining.

Don't forget the Halmyr!

Thank you Martin, on the armour that's just base coated and washed it still has four shades of silver and a glaze to go yet.

It's done but can't posts the update pictures till the morning.

Hi Hairy,

thanks a lot for the tut. Maybe I'll try something similar in the future.

Have you watered down your wash? It looks still metallic and shiny. Great!

Looking forward for more.

as promised here is the update that i couldnt do last night as it was getting late.

Ive started to get the detail on him now so not much left to do then i can move on to the two scorpios.

For the armour i used this
Vallejo model colour gunmetal
GW boltgun metal
Army Painter plate mail metal
GW chainmail
Vallejo model colour Silver

Blue wash
GW blue glaze.

First i base coated the model with the Vallejo gun metal and once dry i used the blue wash onto it, make sure that the brush isnt to loaded with wash just just want it to leave a thin coat over the armour.

Next i thinned the bolt gun metal and started adding thin layers to the armour plates making sure i started at the out side edges and working into where the shaded area would be.

I then moved on to the army painter plate metal and did the same makiing sure that i leave the base and wash and the bolt gun metal showing.

The gw chain mail was used at the exterme edge of the armour plates or with the plate between the shoulders in the middle of it. Last i then used the Silver on the edges of the plates as a extrem highlight.

With the blue glaze i added a thin coat to the whole metal area tonning the metalics down and bring them all together but leaving a blue hue to the model.

Hope that helps

Hairy
