Hello all,

Since Scibor Miniatures was faster than Megalith Games. (To be fair the bases had already been released.) I already finished the bases of my first warband. Now I'm really looking forward to April when my kickstarter pledge will be delivered. So no real Trogs to see here but Scibor Bases are already nice on their own.

I think I have some issues with the light. I need to figure out how to make a better picture.

Hi Till,

These are some lovely painted bases. Have you planed to add some static grass in the cracks and near the edges? I think it would look even better with it.

Well static grass is an idea but at the moment I wouldn't do so. I like the idea of a dead land that got its life leeched by the shadow trolls. Of course some brown dead looking grass may underline that and another 3 dimensional feature is just awesome.

What really keeps me back is that I don't want to mix comic style with realistic style. Static grass is formed in a very realistic way. Its as thin as it should be and so on, while this plant that sadly already was sculpted on the base is clearly more a comic/fantastic uber thick plant.

I don't know how the miniatures will look like but most of the time weapons are also sculpted that way. As already said I'm not a fan of the contrast between realistic and fantastic sculpts. It also depends a lot on the color sheme of the miniatures as well if they fit in the realistic style of static grass. At the moment I plan to let my shadow trolls glow green from the inside and they should light up their environment too a bit. So they would need to light up the grass too and I don't know if this is within my capabilities.

Well all in all I would need the miniatures on the bases and see which cracks are still open so I could put in the grass

Perfect bases for Trogs!

I think I will get some for my Trogs warband!

By the way, our friend Scibor is currently putting the final touches on the Nordgaard Einherjer unit and Runegate Keeper warlord.

If you want to work with static grass then cut off the
the plant from the base !! Use some brown and a little
green grass on the bases. This will show, that the green
land turns into a dead scenery. You can also highlight the
green grass with a brown or dead bone colour.
