A mate of mine is looking at mortans and has come up with the following list:

Centurion - 67pts
- Executioner's blade, reinforced segmentum and scutum, panacea.

Necromagus - 37pts
- Imperial blessing, soulstone martyr

8 Legionnaires - 102pts

10 Legio Mortum - 62pts

1 Scorpio - 32pts

A very solid warband, I'd say.
If I were to play with it, I'd start rather defensively, trying to soften up the enemy with the Scorpio. Once he tries to close in, I'd throw the Centurion and Legionnaires at the front. I'd hold back the Legio Mortum and Necormagus to then decide if they're needed elsewhere (especially against units trying to reach the Scorpio) or if they need to reinforce the living fighters.

Cheers he was quite pleased with it, now I have to figure out how to crush it with my banebrood haha.

Our club seems to favour max units and small numbers of characters these days, I think its the way to play godslayer.

I have to side with the Banebrood because beast in me howls to tear down the Mortan Empire.

Therefore my tips. Take 2 Ursapines. Charge the front of the slow Mortans formation with your Ursapines on Longlegs (14 inches). Then roll through the the line using Rolling Doom until you get behind their lines. Pick off the Necromagus then charge the Scorpio.

Guthackers can take care of the Legionnaires with the POW7 weapons, supported with an action token from the Gorelord so that they can make two POW 7 attacks or make 2 attacks with Circular Slash.

Such a warband would steamroll right over the Legionnaires and Legio Mortum.

But knowing what your opponent will take makes it easy.

Plan, I noticed in the spiel photos that the gut hackers were nearly ready, any idea on a release date for them?

All I can say is "soon", it is all just depending on finishing the painting so we can take the photos to make the packaging.

Soon? or Soontm? Tongue

Don't have my book at the moment, so I can't comment on the list, other than it looks pretty decent but seem to miss heavy hitting power. (Only the scorpio) Maybe take damage spells with the Necromagus?

Praetor, with that list I think he's really going to need the Necromagus to boost the Legio Mortum. I haven't played with them, but from the stats they seem fairly squishy without either spells, the Mortifex's faction power, or both to boost them. With the Necromagus bringing the ancestral blessings, the Legio Mortum should actually be useful. If I was going to change any spell, I might switch out Imperial Blessing for the Raising spell and devote my necromagus entirely to making the Legio Mortum into a swamp unit that never dies.

I would definitely drop one Legio Mortum trooper and take the Raise Legionnaire spell.
