What do you think of this :

Gorelord (52)
Helm of Despair (9)
Infector Blade (8)
Deimort Charm (3)
Total : 72

Pestbringer (33)
Bubonic Plague (4)
Black Plague (6)
Total : 43

Maldire Mongrels (x8) (92)
Total : 92

Maldire Mongrels (x8) (92)
Total : 92

Total : 299

So the PB infects the MM, who go frontline to infect the enemies, and the GL and PB go in together to take down the weaken enemy by weakening it further and dealing it damage at the same time. I know it's going to be more complex than that, but right now it's pretty much the only thing I can imagine like strategy.

Classic and effective. I have played this almost exact warband before.

Key to this is boosting the Mongrels. Godslayer is designed so that combos and boosting result in an advantage over simple fighting. The Gorelord's Howling Mad tactic should be ordered to the Mongrels when they charge. This gives them +1 POW and +1 MEL in addition to the charge bonus, so you get 8 mongrells attacking with POW5 and MEL7. In the Core rules the Warlord can channel an action token to each unit, and in this way the unit will have 5 action tokens so they can make 3 attacks in the first turn with MEL7 and POW5.

Ordering these tactics is really worth it. Even if the unit fails the LEAD test to receive the order, do it again and again if necessary. So the Gorelord is most effective when he boosts the Mongrels at the point when the warbands first clash. With two units of these nasty guys you have a very offensive force.

As you will see in the Core Rules, Light Infantry benefit from a Long charge, so their charge range becomes 3XMov +2 instead of the usual 2XMOV +2. This means you will in most cases get to charge.
Additionally, Beastspawn subfaction ability gives you an additional +2 inches charge range! 13 inches compared to the usual 8-inch charge of others!

One of the next models we will release will be the Fallow Shaman. With this guy you can mutate the Mongrels to give them long legs so they move even faster!!!!......But you will have to wait a couple of months for that. Sorry :-)

Anyway boost your Mongrels and get them into the battle.
The effect of 16 X 3 attacks at POW5, MEL7 is something beautiful to watch. Its an absolute gore-fest!

Against really tricky opponents you might want to split one unit into two units of 4 so one can be used as a sacrifice/threat. Move it close to the enemy and lure them to charge the sacrifice and if the dont, then charge with their 4X3 attacks and pin the enemy down while the rest of the gang arrives.

Then next turn you can charge in with the gorelord with his charge range of 10 inches (due to his MOV of 4).

Deimort charm is fine if you are facing magicky warbands, but I would be tempted to ditch it and get the Blades of Minaxos instead.

Yes absolutely infect the Mongrels prior to melle. This will make them even deadlier. By the way, the Pestbringer is also not bad in melee, but he can also hang back and use Carrion Guts, especially against densely packed units for example Hoplites and Legionnaires using defensive tactics :-) He, he, he!

The Helm of despair is awesome against regular enemies because they need to first pass a Horror test, then another LEAD test at -2 before they can attack you. Just dont get charged by any warlords or combat characters. They will not have a problem with the Horror or the LEAD test, and with ARM of 7 you are half naked.

Okay well those are my tips for you. Enjoy!
